How much did drug test cost back in the day? I just took one from an independent drug test guy and he does them at 45 dollars per person and earns about 15k a month. Y wasn't the done sooner?

If I owned a place and did drug testing I am going with the 45 dollar guy instead of the hospital. This guy single handedly shut down 3 drug testing places inside doctors offices. And in the pain clinic is really hurting because apparently they max billed the insurance for the test.

to run drug tests you need six figure range machine, maybe 5 euro worth of plastic (spe column, eppendorfs, pipette tips), couple ml of acetonitrile and maybe 10min of machine time. it can run 24/7 and if you find anything you can do more detailed analysis

  It just seems like he tests it like a cop tests drugs. He sticks some do hicky in it and which ever colors light up or whatever he compares to a clip board and there you go.

    what kinda drug tests are we talking about here? i’m talking about the kind where you send piss sample and then get result, or in fact hundreds of results. you need to make sure all your paperwork is complete and lab is certified and so on because someone might say that results are legally invalid

Were I live that would be a regular price if you don’t use insurance. But from what you describe, it’s a scam. You need a lab, you need equipment, you need to be certified. However, there’s a lot you can do with POCT nowadays. Point of care testing-devices are basically everything you can do directly without a lab: from test kits to magic boxes that tell you quite a lot with a few ml of blood. But individual POC tests are usually more expensive than lab tests and less accuarte. So I don’t think it would make any sense to run a business with that and trying to compete with hospital labs.

I can buy a drug testing kit from the pharmacy for like $5. They’re right next to the pregnancy tests.
