I’ve rewatched the first six movies a few months ago and then thought let’s continue to the newer ones… barely made it through the first quarter and said fuck it and couldn’t go on.

I mean the first one is alright. It’s just a retelling of episode 4. The second (episode 8) was really bad because the plot didn’t make any sense and relied entirely on 3 people just refusing to communicate, just to have the “big reveal” get basically retconned in the first 2 minutes of episode 9. Episode 9 was the biggest letdown for me because there were a handful of scenes that made me go “ok, this is actually pretty good, they might cook with this” just to have the cool thing either a. get taken out/killed/whatever immediately or b. get overshadowed by something absolutely ridiculous.

I remember reading a spoiler free review of either 8 or 9 right before watching it. The reviewer wasn’t kind and said something to the effect of “at a certain point you’ll know what’s about to happen next and that will be true for the rest of the movie”. That line stuck with me because it was so on point. It was disappointingly early on that I saw plot points happen 10 minutes into the future.
