Why did the Crocodile Hunter die? Was he aggervating sting rays. I watched and messed with them in the gulf. But not one has ever try to sting me. Was he piising them off that much?

  That’s one major criticism of Steve Irwin, he used to wrestle and get in the face of dangerous animals.

  I’m not actually sure of how it happened but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was messing around with it.

  All this being said, I do believe he was a genuine, caring, lovely guy who was obsessed with conservation. Him dying was a real loss

    Despite Steve’s deserved reputation, from what I’ve read this time was truly just bad timing/accident.

  The stingray, possibly mistaking Irwin’s shadow for a tiger shark, suddenly “propped on its front” and stabbed Irwin several times with its tail.

  It is presumably the only known human death by stingray.

  Knowing his track record with poking wild animals…yes. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was pulling its tail to prevent it from escaping, and it had enough.

      Wut? Lol Steve Irwin has had one of the greatest posthumous image rehabilitation in history. He may have never harmed anything, but he sure didn’t respect them either. He was pretty disliked by conservationists when he was still alive.
