Employers want it both ways. They do not want taxes. So pay tory to run and cut services well past the bone. Meaning the gov tries to force long term sick ( and disabled) back to work.
Employers do not want to hire long term siick or disabled. Honestly dispite all the laws. The vast majority of work places do not want employees who need time off or support. They will just not admit that is why they hire someone else.
A d come on be honest. If you run a big corperation. Have 2 potential employers. 1 who is more likely to be reliable time wise. Dose not require the company to make reasonable accommodation. Mainly at the company expense. As the gov only covers a small amount. And dose not have to make regular appointments to seek medical care.
Well if you say you’d not want the more expensive option. You really don’t understand how corps work and won’t run yours for long.
It is a simple unplesent fact. Sick and disabled people are only wanted whe forced or they have unique abilities that sell.
My brother and I are both disabled.

How do they plan to get sick people back into work?
By treating their illness and either curing it or getting it into a manageable, healthy state, whilst providing them with the resources they need to regain employment? …right?
(The dole office don’t count, those people are, in my and many others experiences, soulless people who look down on you for being unemployed, treat you like a mentally undeveloped fool that couldn’t possibly understand how to write their own CV, and assume everything you ever say is a lie, don’t believe that you’re sick, etc etc. The dole office don’t help people, they drive them to depression.)

If the plans com to fruition I’m not sure it’s really meant to help anyone at all, rather just a way to hand out some more public money to a well-connected contractor.
To properly bring down long term sickness rates would mean fixing the NHS and greatly reforming regulations on employment and working conditions. Brining back opportunities for adult education would also help, I’ve known plenty of people who had to leave a particular career due to health issues, but could pursue many others if they had access to retraining.
