When you hear “run like a girl” or “throw like a girl,” what do you imagine? Most adults default to clumsy, weak caricatures, but children don’t. Before pube…
I tend to imagine they’re picturing me in a lovely dress and freshly-salon’ed hair, wishing it was them, instead… and a mote of pity for them crops up. 🤷🏽♂️ Poor li’l guy has wishes he won’t allow himself to say out loud. 🥹
I imagine a toxic masculine guy from the 80s/90s that can easily be beaten up by such girl.
I have sparred rounds with quality female muay thai fighters and “hit like a girl” takes on a very different meaning.
I never heard run like a girl but “throw like a girl” meant when I was young throwing with just your arm so it’s like a pushing motion almost. Like how 4 to 5 year olds throw before they learn to use their core and hips.
Yeah it’s really “throwing like a person that hasn’t been taught how to throw”
Yeah, it’s obviously a sexist taunt but really it’s a reflection on where our society values athletic instruction
