More shocking still is the fact that the F.B.I. has manufactured a series of assassination plots, successfully convincing Trump that Iran was hunting him on U.S. soil with highly sophisticated teams of hitmen.

The man accused of leading the most significant of these operations, Asif Merchant, is currently on trial in a Brooklyn, N.Y. federal court. After the U.S. granted him a visa despite his presence on a terror watch list, Merchant was in the constant company of an F.B.I. confidential informant who ultimately steered the contrived plot to its conclusion. He never stood a chance of realizing his plans, and did not appear serious about doing so.

They gave a known terrorist a VISA just so they could frame him and take credit for stopping an assassination that only the FBI was planning…

Even if they don’t intentionally let an attack happen, one is going to happen because of dumb shit like this.

It’s like firefighters who spend their free time dumping gas cans in abandoned buildings, they might not have lit a match on but they’re not on the long list of people who didn’t start the fire.

    No, that’s not the real question. The real question is, why is this in “Australian Politics”?
    
    The article doesn’t even mention Australia in passing. We’re well aware that our politics is linked to the USA but that doesn’t make all USA foreign policy worth posting in this community. This is a federated platform, most of us see posts from other communities where this post should be made.

Australia’s support for the strikes

Australia was among the first countries to publicly endorse the US-Israeli strikes on Iran. In a joint statement issued hours after the attack on 28 February, Anthony Albanese, Wong and defence minister, Richard Marles, said Australia supported the strikes.

“We support the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent Iran continuing to threaten international peace and security,” the statement read.

One of the strikes killed more that 170 people at a girls’ school, most of them children. The government has since expanded its involvement. On Tuesday Albanese announced that Australia would send a military aircraft and 85 Australian Defence Force personnel to the United Arab Emirates to assist in the defence of Gulf nations targeted by Iran.

Experts say the move effectively makes Australia a party to the conflict.

WTF are they doing? I was hoping Wong at least would know better than turn herself into a war criminal…
