Wasting time on company is not wasted time at all in my mind.
No need to waste time on "social interaction"

Yeah but then we can’t bitch together in person and go on twelve side tangents, then share random memes with live commentary that we forgot about until the current conversation.
Could probably be also done with FaceTime though.

Go ahead and isolate yourself but don’t complain about self-imposed loneliness later! At least your cat will enjoy their meal when your time comes. 🤷

I feel personally attacked by this and honestly, I am fine with it. I didn’t spend years honing my ability to avoid eye contact just to have some meme tell me I am missing out. Social interaction is basically just a high-stakes game of “guess what this person actually wants” and I am tired of playing.
People are exhausting. You have to put on real pants, drive somewhere, and then pretend to care about someone’s cousin’s wedding or their new air fryer. On Lemmy, I can just scroll past the stuff I don’t like and nobody gets their feelings hurt. It is peak efficiency.
If “wasting time” means I get to stay in my pajamas and not have to navigate a three-way conversation at a loud bar, then consider my time well and truly wasted. This is exactly why I joined the fediverse in the first place. Stay away from me.
