The biggest lie of veganism: plants have feelings too but vegans don’t seem to care, why?

From a utilitarian perspective, if you have to kill something, and meat has to kill plants anyway, if you only kill plants that reduces the net suffering.

There is I think a subset of veganism which requires only expendable parts of the plant be harvested - like fruits and seeds. I have no idea whether that’s viable nutritionally and it frankly seems pretty excessive to me.

Nature is not vegan but our meat industry is so dirty and cruel and environmentally unsustainable that I think humans still have plenty of reasons to boycott it.

Also I really don’t GAF about our ancient diet. Seriously both sides trying to show the at they’re right because cavemen are like they do. Who gives a shit? Cavemen did a lot of shit we wouldn’t do now.

I can say the same thing to you: cows are too dumb to feel anything, I’m free to eat them.

    Summary

🎥 “Hey, it’s Mike here” discusses a recent video by ASAP Science on veganism.

🌱 The video focuses on health, environment, and other aspects of veganism.

🔬 Mike agrees with some points but also provides a point-by-point response

.🎓 He announces completing his Master of Public Health degree and criticizes a beef advocacy program.

🌍 Mike appreciates ASAP Science’s videos but disagrees with some claims in their vegan video.

🥩 He addresses concerns about the environmental impact of veganism and the health benefits of a vegan diet.

🌱 Mike challenges the notion that humans evolved as meat eaters and discusses the availability of plant-based sources of B12

    Highlights-

🌍 Vegan diet has environmental benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions and less rainforest destruction.-

🤼‍♂️ Some historical examples, like gladiators and actors, challenge the assumption that meat is necessary for strength.-

🦷 Humans’ anatomical structure suggests a plant-based diet, and our digestive system resembles that of herbivores.-

🧠 Meat consumption may not be the primary driver of human brain development; cooked starch could have played a significant role.-

💪 Protein deficiency is rare in vegans, and B12 can be obtained from plant sources like duckweed and sea buckthorn.-

🥛 The claim that milk promotes strong bones is debated, as countries with low milk consumption don’t have higher fracture rates.-

🍖 The Epic Oxford study on vegan bone health may be influenced by BMI, which affects bone density.

When you make a plant burger that I can eat and not notice that it’s made of plants, and it’s cheaper, then I’ll stop eating chickens and cows. And pork. I could go for a good gyro with lamb though.

Would you eat cat or dog meat?

A backup food supply that follows you around? Sounds perfect for survival situations.

For survival, sure. Dogs and cars have evolved alongside humans as our companions, so we treat them differently, but they’re still just animals. I get that cows are cute and can be seen as a companion animal as well, but we’ve changed their evolution to be cattle, because we have a need for their meat. I all for making that process as humane as it can be, but if we gotta kill cows for meat, then we gotta do it.

If plant based alternatives were cheaper than meat and satisfied my natural human craving for meat, then I’d stop eating meat. Until then I understand that a certain level of suffering need to be accepted.

Yes if I’m desperate. That’s what people are during WW1 and WW2.

But now, no because of feelings, and it’s the same with vegans who don’t eat animals. But they don’t accept that though, it’s strange.
