I’m looking for a game to blow off a little steam, is there any good games like Just Cause where you get to shoot at and kill US military forces invading another country, for example? Maybe a FPS game or a third-person shooter?
The only thing I can think of is Spec Ops: The Line and that’s not so much the vibe I would like right now, anyone have any ideas?
Uh… I mean there’s Halo Wars, which lets you play as Covenant leaders in certain modes (in 2 there’s a DLC storyline where you play as the aliens again, but not against the humans). The UNSC is basically the US Army In Space.
Aside from that I’m not sure. There’s probably plenty of mods for other games though. Like GMod, there are tons of NPCs and such in the steam workshop, plenty of US military characters to choose from. You can then load into a map, set up a spawner (or spawn them in yourself), and start blasting. I did actually do something like this back when the George Floyd protests were going on: I went in the game, spawned in a bunch of cop NPCs and just started blasting and mowing them down.
It actually did feel pretty good, tbh.
Garry’s Mod is genuinely a pretty good idea, might give that a shot!

You're probably best finding RTS games where you are in the roles of maybe rulers and whatnot that oppose US military? it's all I can think of.

I’ve been playing through Return to Castle Wolfenstein which does go some way towards scratching that itch, ideally I’d like to have something set in a bit more of a modern era though… with that said, are the newer Wolfenstein games worth playing?

Haven’t played the new colossus yet but the new order was pretty good. I can recommend it.

Both new ones are excellent.
Not FPSs, but pretty much any strategy game set in either world war lets you play vs the US.
Company of Heroes, Steel Division, Hearts of Iron, Great War: Western Front, etc.
Of course, you’d have to play as Nazis or the Red Army, but there ya go.
