Well, it’s probably full of spyware and upsells and otger unsavery stuff (only using it very rarely when FOSS projects would rather answer tge same questions 500 times in a chat than have a wiki) so they will feel right at home?

I feel like a simple site with RSS, or a web forum if you really need interactivity, were all pretty much hammered out 20+ years ago.

I checked, they have an email list but not an RSS feed.
On this discord, there is no messaging functionality. There used to be a join channel which showed joiners, but got removed as people kept changing their usernames, joining and leaving in order to send messages. (Some people still do it by using lower ascii characters to appear in the sidebar).
People still leave reactions on messages. It’s a fun assortment of union jacks, trans flags, pride flags, palestine flags, Ukraine flags, russian flags, EU flags, israeli flags, crosses, black pregnant men, middle fingers
