I mean, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the US and a large percentage of the country speaks Spanish as their first language. English isn’t the official language of the US either, or wasn’t, probably the current administration changed that.
Perdón, ¿"español" de dónde?

We have much Spanish media here. US Spanish is (unsurprisingly) close to Mexican Spanish but my Spanish teachers in school were Cuban. No Vosotros. The Spanish you hear from radio DKs and telenoticias is US Spanish.

I love reading Spanish as a native French speaker, it’s like trying to read French on drugs. I kinda understand but I really don’t.

This also happens to us Spanish speakers but with Portuguese.

Spanish speakers can read Portuguese very well. Spoken… less so.

Right!? I was excellent at French in college, but it’s been 35-years.
