I’ve definitely been more anxious about germs and getting sick since COVID hit, so you’re not alone.
Is there an increasing trend in the fear of germs/contamination (Mysophobia/Germophobia) ever since Covid-19, or is it just me?

I don’t even think there was an increasing trend DURING C19
I didn’t live in a big town during the happenings, but would regularly see people openly coughing, touching their faces and touching absolutely everything they can.
I’m just amazed we didn’t wipe out more of the population

As far as my experience goes in Germany, the fear is consistent with what was before covid. There are a few individuals with increased awareness that are stillmaskimng, especially in public transit but these are few. Which in turn is consistent with my observation that most good hygiene practice has stuck somewhat more. People wash their hands more often and there is much less talking down to germanophobes. Even children are taught much better hygiene (to no avail in the daycare facilities for children).

Yes, there was a increase in germanophobia after 1919.

I definitely am, and other people seem to be, more aware of germs, epidemics, etc. it’s not just the effects of COViD but the ongoing efforts to deny science and modern medicine.
Every time taco don disbands another public health agency or brain worm spouts nonsense, it reminds me how easily we lost so many people. We not only didn’t learn anything but are somehow worse off, but I’m reminded to wash my hands better and more, seek out annual vaccines, get a supply of masks for the winter

Intelligent people fear germs and contamination. Idiots still don’t wash their hands after toilet.
(And no, making your hands wet for a second is not washing them. Think of it like that: if you had shit on your plate, would you also just make it wet before eating off it, or would you spend some time scrubbing it clean?)

I can't find any studies on this. I don't really trust personal perception for this one, and I'm also curious.

I’ve never really been a germophobe or a mysohpobe, even before COVID. Neither was my producer, Neigsendoig.

Measles came back. Polio is back. There isn’t enough fear.
