Possibly ignorant question from a non-American here, but why is this news exactly? Feel like there’s some cultural context or something missing.

When asked what location fans wanted as a fighting stage, one very popular answer was Waffle House. Context: if you crash at WH after a long night out, you’re guaranteed to witness some drunken fighting.
Man, I’d love a Waffle House stage.

A Waffle House stage would be awesome but tbh I’d much rather just eat some WH

It’s a place that stays up late after the bars close and there’s a point during the night where much of the clientele is intoxicated and hungry. Fights are frequent enough to be a meme and some people think it would make a funny video game background.

Waffle House desperately wants to distance itself from the 'fighter diner’s image.

Could you imagine what that place would look like if it transitioned from the patrician’s violence venue to the everyman’s fight club? Pure anarchy.

I don’t think waffle house cares. They just exist. They aren’t hype, they aren’t cool. They just are.
