Watched a few old episodes of AEW and Futurama this week. Also it’s getting late and raining tonight and reminded me of this Joe Pera episode about waking up in the middle of the night when it’s raining, a little niche but if you enjoy it he’s got some good podcast episodes too.

Douglas is Cancelled is a show about an newsanchor who gets accused on twitter of having told a sexist joke. PR drama and intrigue ensues. Good reflection on sexism/mysogynism, power structures, and media. It’s a comedy/farce.

I meant to watch it for years and then a few weeks back I binged Season 1 & 2. I really enjoyed it and am fully looking forward to season 3.

The Residence. Easily the best show I’ve seen in years. Charming, witty, captivating, funny… it hit all the marks.

I’m enjoying it but I’m finding it silly, and not in a fun way. Sometimes it’s fun silly, but often not. There is no jeapordy for any characters. Nobody is really a suspect. You could dip in and out of episodes and be no worse off, which is odd for a whodunnit mystery. It’s witty in parts and engaging and cinematography and acting is good, but it’s a swing and a miss for me. At least they took a swing, though. It’s more original than most US tv, as it’s less linear or procedural.

That’s valid, and you’re not the first who has told me that it missed the mark. I think it clicked for me because I’m a sucker for anything Shonda Rhimes. It reminded me of 90s classics like Buffy or Xena that blend a serious story with over the top camp.

I just finished iZombie. I’m not sure what to watch next. I like comedy stuff like Psych, Ted, Loudermilk, almost all Ricky Gervais stuff.

If you haven’t seen it, Santa Clarita Diet is good. It’s kinda like iZombie (but not really). Only problem is it ends on a major cliff hanger (fuck netflix).

If you like Psych, try So Help Me Todd.

Only made it a couple seasons before being axed despite decent numbers. I don’t remember it ending with any major cliff hangers but plenty of loose threads.

Just binged The Bondsman the other day. I enjoyed it. Kevin Bacon was entertaining as Hub.
