Interesting move.
I’m still buying DVDs. But once there’s no way to actually buy media, that makes it abandonware, for those of us collecting physical media.
I’m sure the sketchy Chinese site that’ll start selling me media mega bundles on USB is absolutely licensing that stuff correctly, though.

Wondering if we’ll get another format war at some point or if people will just accept streaming and owning nothing

Accept nothing. Own everything. Sail the high seas.

I don’t understand your comment. Is this article suggesting noone will release their films on bluray?
BobGnarley@lemm.ee 4 months ago
Per the article it is saying that they will eventually cease production of them altogether. Sony owns the rights to Blu Ray so any company wanting to put their art onto it is out of luck once they stop making them altogether.

Since I’ve not heard of a new format coming out I can only assume purchasing will be out the windows. However, that just means they get less of my money. I don’t mind renting movies if I’m unsure of the movie, but unless I can own a digital copy I’d never get one. The only reason I have any more is because they came “free” with the disc I purchased.
