Even worse are the comments on old songs, any culture, any language. You’ll always have comments like “I am 13 and I love this music! Modern music bad!”. It really sucks the joy out of listening to those songs on youtube.

I hate those comments… I can’t say they’re the most useless garbage out there, but they’re damned close.

Who’s still utilizing YouTube comments in 2024???
zeekaran@sopuli.xyz 10 months ago
I just assume these are all from twelve year olds.

If it was a small artist this would make sense. Imagine an artist with like less then 1000 views on YouTube. It might be interesting to see if they have any superfans still listening

My favorite example at the moment, 10y/o Youtube gold with less than 3000 views. One of those comments from 2021

Solution (for a lot of the Internet): addons.mozilla.org/…/shut-up-comment-blocker/

Prolly bots right? I really don’t think there are so many actual people in the world who think about commenting that.
I bet 50 these comments will disappear when LLMs become cheap af to run en masse so bots can be more realistic and varied.

Or kids. Most probably kids.

50
why not 5000? I think we may be in for a spot of trouble.

Ew. Who reads YouTube comments anyway?
wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 10 months ago
I occasionally will on low traffic how-to or informational videos, because sometimes someone else will post additional useful details or corrections.

I don’t think anyone is commenting “Who else is listening in February 2024?!” on Practical Engineering videos about how fish swim through turbines.
perishthethought@lemm.ee 10 months ago
On this video, there were two more asking the same question.
