I am thankful I have a long term partner and have never needed to used dating apps. It sounds like a nightmare. Ghosting is such a repulsive move to me. A simple “I’ve not been feeling it will work with us, its been nice chatting and wish you luck in the future’ is all that’s needed? But apparently that’s not the done thing? I think look at it like a filter, someone who doesn’t have the capabiltiy to communicate they don’t want to continue is not going to be someone you can build a good relationship with. Relationships need communication. Shrug and move on.

Bit of a rant:
It appears I created a cardinal sin for dating apps (aside from joining them).
Monday morning I sent a recent match on messenger (and she requested my info) a silly Dad joke and hope you have a good day.
She laughed. Said thanks. Hope you do too.
That night I asked how her day was.
No response.
Alright. Maybe busy or something. Left it at that.
Then Christmas Morning I said Merry Christmas. Hope you have a great day.
No response.
I’ve not said anything since. Not bothering (though still facebook friends, go figure).
Social conventions confuse me. I figure she’s found someone else/better.
But I think 2025 is going to be the year of no apps. Just a focus on my goals. So ladies, you got 4 days to friendzone or ghost me before the chance is gone lol :D

That is a way of looking at it. If they cant communicate straight away, it wouldn’t be much better down the track I imagine.

Yikes, the apps sound exhausting. Good for meeting people you wouldn’t cross paths with at all irl, but exhausting.
Ghosting might be a convention on the apps, but should not be a convention at all.
I hope you experience much-needed relief after you get off them!

I definitely do not recommend them. It is exhausting and not good for your mental health.

when i moved country i lost email addresses and phone numbers when I was robbed
I still feel guilty because I could have made more effort to stay in touch😞
then again, they still had mine 🤔
oh well 😞

Every friend I’ve drifted from has also drifted from me. I went to seven schools as a kid so maybe I accept it too easily.

That’s the killer part, isn’t it. Nothing stops them from reaching out, but they don’t.

it’s a sad realisation

Never send a message if they haven’t responded first.
