So you’re in favor of the guy who set a woman on fire in the subway?
PunnyName@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
Just because the police are fucking pigs, doesn’t mean you automatically think a heinous act is okay.
The world isn’t a null sum game.

That was precisely my point.

They don’t want to understand nuance, they want to feel righteous and get upvotes.

False dichotomy. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.
I swear, it should be mandatory to take formal/informal logic courses. The amount of fallacies I see in people’s arguments is astounding.

Okay but this is a post about a violent arsonist being arrested and the user chose to start cussing out the police.
You can see how that qualifies as endorsement for violent arson, right?
Aqarius@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
I’d hazard a guess the post titled “Where’s the mayor” is more likely about the mayor than about the arsonist.

Yeah actually I can see your point now. I interpreted it as the NYPD taking the opportunity to turn this into a PR stunt that disgusts the OC. But they never specified, so it is all technically an assumption on our part. I just find it more likely the oc is talking about behavior other than the physical act of arresting someone for immolating someone.
