For sure, thereâs some with small balconies that might let me keep my best plants (curry leaf and chillies) so thatâll be a real bonus if I can get that. At this point my first priority is a good kitchen, a quiet area with greenery, and plenty of natural light - a place I donât feel actively miserable in. The rest is a bonus.

Dunno where you are but last I was looking there were some good older-brick-but-solid little blocks out in the inner west and down round Newport/Yarraville. But I hear you. Natural light and a functional kitchen are the non negotiables for me too.

Iâm in the east, itâs not a cheap area for sure but thereâs enough old stock apts that itâs doable. I want to stay in this general area short term as a short commute is non-negotiable for me right now - I value that more than having the plants tbh. Long term I certainly wonât be staying on here, possibly not even in Melbourne at all tbh.

I know this is in poor taste but Iâll take your chillies :)
