Saving your post incase I ever dare to try the tiny slow cooker that was given to me but havenât had the courage to use yet due to lack of experience.

Have just heaved a packet of sausages, some curry paste, a shittonne of vegetables and the last leftover can of the cider into the slow cooker. Dinner will be ready at 8 ish. Dunno what youâd call it - bangers & hash stew maybe? Melbourne coddle? Kept back some parsley & lemon zest & garlic for stirring through at the last minute.
The crisper drawer is now empty. Note to self - buy more grog.

Oh Duenan, the slow cooker is the best gadget ever in the kitchen. Whatever you cook on the stove, you can do in the slow cooker. Hmu when Iâm sober. The slow cooker is my forte and Iâm sure a lot of people here are the same.

Iâll probably be seeking some advice in the future but simple sausages and curry sounds easy!

Yes it is

Mine is only 5 litres. Two quarts in old money. Itâs a very old (but still functional) original crockpot. I think I got in back in 1982 ⊠has seen a lot of use since. My only complaint is that the crock part is not removable, so I have to be vigilant about washing it up so the electrics donât get compromised. Modern ones are much easier to deal with - just put the insert in the dishwasher.

I inherited one from my dad. It looks pretty small and is heavy as well but it does come in two parts.
Iâm not sure how many litres mine might be. Could be 5 as well?

Measure with the next empty milk carton generated in your household. 5 litres is pretty small - only just holds a smallish chicken. Does chicken pieces pretty good though. Living alone, I donât need anything much bigger than that. When the boyos and my late partner were in the house, I used it for like the meat part of the meal only, and did the rest on the stovetop or in the oven. The beautiful thing about a slow cooker is that itâs almost impossible to burn anything in it.

This is a very traditional Aussie stew, real pioneer fare.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I suspect the pioneers would not have put in quite so many vegetables.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
and the older the stew the more curry
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs almost 8. Iâm waiting
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
There is ample for two, or three or more if I add some rice.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Nah. Thatâs just curried sausages and extras.
Note to you - buy more grog.
