I went to sleep at like 7 but then woke up at 10:30 and couldnât get back to sleep. Took some melatonin, hopefully it kicks in soon.
I donât get physically home sick, but when Iâm away from home I always find it difficult to sleep. This is also the first time Iâve been at a hotel on my own as well, which adds to it

Iâve read that people did this for centuries: went to bed early, woke up for a few hours around midnight and then had a second sleep to the morning.
I donât know whether thatâs really true, but it certainly matches my personal experience. If I go to sleep early and Iâm not completely exhausted, Iâll wake up around 11 and be awake for the next 2-3 hours. I am usually up past midnight so this doesnât often come up.

Itâs called polyphasic sleep and yeh, we used to do it (more commonly) before street lights were a thing. Itâs still a thing a lot of people do with, siesta being a common example

Thankyou! I always thought there was something wrong with my sleep pattern. I get tired early, go to bed, sleep until around midnight, wake up for at least an hour (more commonly 2-3) and then go back to sleep and wake up by 7am. I didnât realise that was normal and ok! This is a revelation to me!

Me too. But even if I am exhausted I still wake up for an hour or so.
