Or it fell out of their pocket before they left the house and they didn’t realize so they thought it was stolen. This would really get a conspiracy brain.

Isn’t that what the post is saying? That’s why their worldview changed; the sudden discovery of their phone at home caused them to realize it wasn’t stolen after all
