Never realised how bad it is not having my own washing machine until nowâtesting positive a week later. I ran out of towels near the start as I was due for a wash and I just ran out of clean clothes then.
My only symptom now is reduced smell and I feel fine in every other respect, but Iâm not gonna be that person who rocks up to the laundromat covid positiveâit can wait (hopefully).

This not as daft an idea was it might first sound. Does not help which things like sweating all the sheets into gross. Though it might be amusing to see some TikTok idiot try stuff a Queen sheet into a kettle.

Might need a brazier, a large stock pot and paling from the fence for sheets.

Iâd just mask up, keep my distance from people and sanitise my hands before I touch anything. No worries.

No worries.
I know you mean well, but I think that kind of thinking is what got me with covid in the first place. I donât want to risk continuing to spread it further to other people, not a chance.

For some reason itâs only occurred to me now that clothes can be washed by hand and that I know how to do that đ¤Śââď¸
Well, I know what I am doing todayâŚ

Donât forget to roll the clothes up in towels and stand on them to get as much moisture out as possible. I handwashed my clothes when the machine broke and they didnât dry quickly enough to avoid getting mouldy

Are the small portable ones any good? Didnât know they were this cheap
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Iâm not sure, I havenât used one before but once bought one for a friend who was in a tight spot. You might want to check which features each of them have as the very cheapest says itâs a camping one. Also check Amazon and Ebay to see if theyâre any cheaper as sometimes it can be the exact same thing as in the chain store

Related note, apparently America is not a place you find laundry tubs, and lots of HOA ban outside clotheslines. This is utter madness!
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
They sure can, and some ought be. Very few people will have a scrub board nowadays, but modern clothes wonât generally be as grotty or sturdy. Donât know about having the energy to do it while Positive!
Nath@aussie.zone â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I never thought until now how much of a hassle lockdowns would have been to people who didnât have a laundry. How did you even cope with that?
neurospice@lemmy.dbzer0.com â¨3⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I think we might have been allowed to do it as one of the reasons to go out, but I remember for at least one of them I had to hand wash my clothes like Iâm doing now
