There was a video i watched about OSRS that i unfortunately cannot remember the origin of (Maybe the classic wow videos from either Gbay99 or J1mmy?) That explained that the entire ethos of OSRS can be boiled down to misery.
Everything sucks to do and to achieve, which is why achieving it feels so good. You need to overcome adversity to reach nirvana. The achievements are genuinely impressive because why the fuck did you spend so many hours grinding that skill/boss for a few pixels?

Yep, FromSoft makes a lot of intentionally bad and player-hostile design choices (especially when it comes to bonus/hidden/secret content) and their fans love them for it.

Used to have a friend, complete FromSoft fanboy, who argued incessantly that this wasn’t the case.
Dude just would not admit that Miyazaki, known to be a gigantic troll IRL, designs parts of his games to troll people.
