  I get 5-10 calls-texts-emails and mail spam a day then to take a glance at crapdit to see the same only to come here to see this. I just want it to be done. I’m agreeing with you.

    Sure, but you guys aren’t the only ones with worldwide consequential politics but you don’t see anyone other than Americans spamming every community on Lemmy about their local elections. Let me escape your politics for five minutes ffs. We’re not shoving Canadian politics down your throats

      I agree Americans are too loud, but Canadian elections aren’t going to have the world influence of big American elections. Look at what’s at stake in two weeks: Control of the House and Senate and a chance to reign Trump in, end the Iran war, and shitloads more. Ask the Filipinos how they feel about that. Nothing Canada can do could fuck up the planet and world politics as thoroughly as we have.

        Yeah sure, but why do I need to see US election voting reminders in a shitposting meme community? I reluctantly keep up with American politics on the news com already but I’d imagine even Americans want to escape their politics a little bit let alone those of us outside of the place

    If you give everyone burnout, they will tune it out or start blocking it outright. Either let people have some reprieve from it, or they will take steps to get it.

    Also, a large part of Lemmy is not from the US and has very little ability to affect anything there.
