Honestly, I don’t see the point of adding Minecraft to Steam.

Comment on Mojang reveals The Sift as the first new Minecraft dimension in 14 years

As it already exists on so many platforms; I don't see Microsoft or Mojang being interested in sharing a revenue cut with Valve for every sale. As they mainly distribute Minecraft from their website and support several computer OS, they have the most to gain from following KISS in this instance.

That can be fixed by pressuring Mojang to implement those changes. It doesn't have to be on Steam to recieve those upgrades, community action and pressure are necessary to manifest those outcomes. Its less of a pipe dream than wishing for the impossible.
If releasing on Steam and let Proton do the work of running on linux is much more impossible than to ask them to write the program again but this time for linux, i’m not sure what to say.
Its not even a rewrite that is required, Java Minecraft already runs fine on Linux, C# programs can as well...The issue is it would Mojang needs a reason to adapt the Bedrock version of Minecraft so that it will run with no issues on Linux. To add a cloud save functionality to the game there, if you want that, advocate for the change. Don't ask for them to add Minecraft to Steam, be sensible about it.

Idk, I visited my niece and nephew who love Minecraft. I came with my Steam Deck, and the recommended way to run Minecraft was through some 3rd party launcher that wasn’t officially Minecraft. It worked fine, but I kinda would have preferred an “official” pathway to running it there.

Yeah, I mean the only problem with the Steam Deck is that Steam OS (which is based on Arch) doesn't allow for package layering, otherwise you'd be able to use the official launcher which is on the AUR. I have no idea why they still haven't promoted that one to the extra repo yet. Given that Minecraft has been out for donkeys years now...There is clearly no incentive for them to launch it on Steam. They are big enough that they are fine without Steam for Minecraft.
