Made a questionable choice with the story that required retconning the depiction of the final antagonists from the first game, among other choices.

I don’t think you heard correctly, the Fireflies didn’t get retconned.

In the ps3 release the Fireflies hospital was dirty and dingy. In the sequel it’s all squeaky clean.
In the first game the Fireflies are portrayed as shortsighted and incapable of even crossing the country with heavy weaponry. In the sequel they’re treated as if they were perfectly capable of making and disseminating a vaccine.
Neil clearly didn’t like how the first games story turned out and made the sequel into his little fanfic.

Your idea of a retcon is that the hospital looks different in the sequel game in that tiny cutscene you see? It’s not even true, the hospital is still dirty and dingy.
You’re also claiming a character having a wishful opinion is a retcon.
There’s zero plot or story changes here too to even start making the assertion a retcon happened. How and why are you escalating to accusing the entire TLOU2 of being a fanfic because of two extremely minor things about the previous game, one of which isn’t even true.

Maybe it’s the gay or the woman with muscles

It’s not that. It’s story beats. I explained it in another comment.

Unfortunately foe the both of us, because rightwingers used this game for their agenda, neither of us will ever be taken seriously. It’s like telling one of those narcissists that make their abusive childhood their entire personality that running a stoplight is bad.
I hope the 4th Witcher game ends up being good, because I’m not sure how many more times I can watch the same situation go down, man.

STORY SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
The second game starts off with killing the MC from the first game and you follow the other MC around on their revenge tour. From the bits I’ve seen it’s going for an ultra gritty, introspective, Walking Dead style narrative that I just honestly don’t care for anymore. It’s just not my thing.
I also don’t want to invest in the series when I know the main guy from the first one gets done dirty.

BTW Lemmy supports spoiler tag for cases like this. You can write using this template:
To get the following result:
write whatever button name you want
here write whatever spoiler you want

I wouldn’t call it “Walking Dead” style. If anything, it wears its Cormac McCarthy influences on its sleeve. The story is intentionally dreary, miserable, uncomfortable, and emotionally draining. Kotaku’s review of the game was pretty on the money for a lot of people, it’s entirely possible to be so put off by the tone and story of the game because it’s so miserable.
The thing is that you play as Ellie and then as Abby to get both perspectives on the story. The entire message of the game is that revenge and unending conflict a downward spiral of self-destruction. Joel gets done dirty… but so does everyone. That’s the whole point of the game.

Sure. I respect the choice and understand why people like it. But it’s definitely not a story for me. I think I’d just burn out of playing something that dreary for so long only then having to go through it again from the other perspective.
Between that and hating stealth games it’s just not a game for me.
I can respect that others love it but it’s not a game for me.
