atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 6 days agoGeorge Jetson had like a four hour workday. They seriously stole so much from us.

I’m convinced that RFK (the original, not his failson) would have been a transformational president on par with FDR, had he not been assassinated.

And he had a pushbutton job and was exhausted after pushing a button… Twice!

I like this comparison because the reason Jetson could work so little was because of the technological advancements.
We live in what people from must a couple centuries ago would consider a wizard magician magic world because of the insane technological advancements we’ve made.
So why the fuck are we still working this much?
The answer is simple. Because the fruits of our labor and humanity’s advancements have been stolen from us by a greedy minority. And we aren’t nearly as mad about it as is necessary to get what we deserve.

It is. A few centuries ago things like buying new clothes was an occasion. But now we have fast fashion and throw away crap.
I mean I fucking hate a lot of the fashion garbage. I have an extremely utilitarian view of clothing and people would probably hate me for it.

Maybe fast fashion is a bad example as it is built on the backs of suffering humans

The only reason my work pants are different colors is because sometimes the color I prefer is out of stock. I did go so far as to intentionally pick two different colors of shirt of the same style, though. I have fashionable non-work clothes because my sister-in-law buys her husband trendy new clothes every year and he’s about my size.
