I wouldn’t be so quick to judge. There’s truth to that, but life is about doing not about potential. Anything worth having requires work and comes at risk.
I can’t fault someone for taking a chance at what they saw as a very real possibility of being happy.

Except studies show divorced people are still unhappy. and in the last decade, less are getting divorced because they can’t afford it.

Also I think people forget that even though a relationship ended, it (presumably) still brought happiness while it lasted.
You shouldn’t avoid doing good things just because they might end someday.
