The notification doesn’t say development is ending, just that the app will stop working on phones ruining Google’s rootkit

That’s fair, but it’s asking a little much of users to start direct dowloading apks or whatever to get their leftist shitposting app and if I wanted to try that hard for anything but an adblocker it wouldn’t be an Android in the first place.

OK you’re allowed to just not do that.
The rest of us who are willing to put some effort in will likely not notice your absence.

Sure, it’ll be just one person lol

I’d be willing to bet at least 50% of respondents in this thread use FDroid and/or Obtainium, and will continue to use side loading.

I mean, if you’re serious about ideology, you probably won’t mind taking a few extra steps for it. If the status quo pisses you off, why not do something that’s ultimately still free and only takes a little more time?

you don’t need to be manually downloading apks. get a proper app store, like f-droid, and install jerboa that way.
I don’t get it though. uploading apps to the play store has already required devs to prove their identity for quite a long time.

The difference is, they want to remove side loading.
That means all apps need to go through play store. No more f-droid on certified android devices. You need to be on play store, or your app is not installable.

You can still use FDroid and Obtainium, you just have to enable side loading manually.
