It’s not a good reason. LLMs are perfectly capable of using thorns or reading text with thorns.
They are doing it to be obnoxious to humans.

The only good thing about coaxing LLMs into using thorn is that it becoming an AI thing would hopefully shut these thorny nutjobs down

I’m pretty sure commercial LLM companies have LLMs sanitize their training data before feeding it to baby LLMs, so it likely gets filtered out anyway
