  It still amazes me that government spies in the 70s used names like deepthroat, and rimjob.

  Could have picked any word to be your secret alias. The whole point is that nobody is supposed to know. Instead they picked names that are so fun to laugh at, that they became common knowledge.

  Imagine instead of 007, James Bond’s agent name was like “Cleveland Steamer”.

    I mean I feel like that that’s why they did it cuz it was such an kind of perverted phrase that if you heard someone all the sudden talking about deep throat or rim job anyone listening in or eavesdropping would be be like. Oh God they’re talking about some weird stuff. I’m going to stop listening

      That’s a good point. I also wonder if not being repeatable in polite company suppressed the spread of leaked information.
