I do loath authoritarians of all shapes, yet nobody crawls out of the woodwork to moan nearly so loudly as when I “own the tankies”, as you put it.

I ain’t religous, but there’s not much use in preaching to the choir!

    You’re forgetting that I’m speaking with what I’d like to call “modern Internet grammar and syntax” so it’s comfortable appropriate given the context to not use quotes or periods. The quotes are debatable here because I’m not necessarily quoting the person but I am making a statement of fact on spelling.
    
    So this is less of a gotcha than you think.
