True, but promoting AI will make it worse. What’s the lesser of two evils in this situation?
I’m sure preventing people from talking about AI on Lemmy will stop that plague really quickly.
I have never seen such blatent censorship about a subject than AI on Lemmy. I dont care about AI so whatever but really stopping people to talk about a subject is the most stupid solution to a problem.
Putting it under the rug will not work.

I never talked about promoting it.
Just letting people talk about it without immediately downvoting it.

You’re talking about it now, your comment has not been censored and neither has the post. What are you talking about? Having an unpopular opinion and being downvoted for it is not censorship.

What is my “unpopular opinion” in my comment ?
All I see is me saying that no subjects should be downvotes just for their subject rather than a disagreement on a unpopular opinion.
I’m not saying you should not downvote content you disagree with. I’m saying that no matter what is said about AI it’s getting downvoted for the sole reason that it is about AI.
Again I was not expressing a clearly unpopular opinion around here that AI is good, yet I’m still downvoted just because that conversation is AI adjacent…
I sure hope saying all subjects should be freely talked about as long as its within the rules of that instance is not an unpopular opinion.
And yes, I do think massive downvotes for not even taking a stance or an opinion on a matter is a pretty big disruption of discourse.

Nobody’s preventing it really. There’s a difference between top-down censorship and cultural “we don’t do that here”.
