Iām umming and ahhhing about a $2,200 bike. I havenāt had a nice bike in years. With the fuel prices and other reasons itās a good idea, but itās a lot of money to me.

Iāve decided I really need to get serious about getting fitter & losing weight. Iāve spent a small fortune on exercise equipment, but canāt find anywhere that sells either motivation or enthusiasm. If you know a place that has any in stock please let me know.
There have been a lot of improvements in home treadmill design since I last looked at them and there are a lot available for a much cheaper price than I was expecting. Iām pushing the upper weight limit on a lot of them at the moment though, so Iāve spent a bit more on something that is sturdier. It can be used under a desk or on itās own and can go up to 16km/h, although Iām not sure I can go up to 16km/h. It also folds up quite small when not being used.
I also ordered a bunch of heavy things - weights and bars that can be used for dumbell/barbell/kettlebell type exercises. I think Iāll find it easier to keep motivated by doing more frequent short stints than trying to do a regular full gym routine. That approach seems to have worked better for my with chores and things like that so š¤

I too would like to know where the motivation shop is. Willing to sell a kidney.

I figure Iāll add my 2 cents:
I donāt have any advice to give about what exercises you should do, but I do have an anecdote about good.
Iāve learned to stop eating when Iām full. I donāt make myself finish something just because itās there. I can always go back later if Iām still hungry.
This is how Iāve managed to lose and keep weight off consistently.

I think my sensor for āfullā is faulty, Iām pretty much always hungry at the moment. Iām blaming it on dodgy hormones.

Wegovy reset that for me last year. I went on it for about six months to kick start weight loss as I was always hungry. I lost the first 15kg with it, then wound back and lost another 15kg via continued calorie counting. I didnāt go above the 1.0 dose which is the strongest of the cheaper options ($250/4 shots taken weekly). All the low doses are $250.

I think I have a touch of demand avoidance, too much accountability is counter-productive for me. I start to resist when I feel like Iām being pressured to do something, even when that pressure if coming from my and my own decisions. Iām starting to work out ways of navigating around my own silly psychological quirks, but it does make routines and consistency a problem for me. I have found breaking things down into small chunks so I canāt use the ādonāt have timeā type excuses helps, and allowing myself choices about when I do something also helps. This approach has worked well with housework and similar things, hopefully I can successfully apply it to exercise too.

I thought a timer was a good idea, but I almost ended up buying a full set of hourglasses and a fancy version that uses coloured water. Managed to pull myself back to just a standard, sensible timer, but it was a close call!

Whoa. This is great. Youāre gonna get a lot of useless/use advice so hereās mineā¦
Walking pad - Start slow. Surprisingly it takes a little practice and balance to start off but itās super fun and when you get the hang of it you can give yourself challenges. Donāt go hard because itās not sustainable. Tuck a hand towel into your pants because you will sweat. Pets will be amused.
Weights - Again start with small ones. Pick an exercise and do 8 Ć 3 sets. Lots on YouTube to choose from. Donāt go hard because itās not sustainable.
Diet - Calories in, calories out. Use a tdee calculator to find your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. Donāt give up any food that youāre not prepared to give up for life because itās not sustainable.
We ladies gotta stick together and encourage each other. Also itās not too late to start up no sugar for the rest of lentish. Youāll feel amazing afterwards. (Yeah I did say not to give up any food but itās sugar and itās only for a short amount of time and itās a kick start).
Youāve got this!
