to be fair, anyone who wants to enter could probably do so even with a gate, this looks more like a shitty “please do not enter” sign
Comment on Hose Clamp Security Gate Chain...
over_clox@lemmy.world 6 days agoIncorrect.
It used to be a fully locked metal pole gate, but someone a few years ago unscrewed and removed the hefty hinges.
So now under new management, this is the bullshit they installed to replace the reinforced gate, rather than replacing the original gate hinges.
Any 8 year old or above with a flathead screwdriver can take that new chain shit down…

More or less true, yeah. The proper parking area is outside of the gated/chained off driveway. The maintenance people only open that for people either moving into an apartment or moving out.
What’s really funny though is that there used to be a pretty heavy duty bolted on steel pipe swing gate, but someone came along and unbolted the hinges to get in without landlord/maintenance permission. They left all the parts there though, maintenance could have just bolted the gate hinges back up.
But no no, these new maintenance people were too damn lazy to bolt back what I guess were like 18mm nuts. No no, they must have just hauled the old steel gate to the scrapyard and replaced it with this nonsense that anyone with a flathead screwdriver can easily bypass… 🤦♂️

To be honest, it might be faster picking that shit lock than running that hose clamp out with a screwdriver.

Could be either yo, like it might be quicker with a paperclip LMFAO!

Something like this isn’t meant to provide real security, just discourage anyone from driving in or out of their lot after hours. If someone really wants in there, they can just step under or over the chain.

True true, but it’s not meant to prevent people walking, it’s to prevent people from parking their vehicles overnight in the driveway area…

I was thinking it was that yellow plastic chain that used to be everywhere
gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 6 days ago
Also, is that chain plastic?
over_clox@lemmy.world 6 days ago
Oh no, it’s a metal chain, apparently covered in powder coat yellow.
I ain’t gonna mess with it, but it won’t surprise me a bit if other neighbors eventually fuck with it.

Some chains have metal underneath the plastic shield so it looks nicer longer and can be various colors.
