Ahh, I have this too. I find wearing a softer pony tail lower down lessens the effect. Satin pillowcases have helped too, I’m too cheap to try real silk. They get less sticky uppy the closer I get to wash day, which is twice a week. Mine is from a combination of bleach and thyroid disfunction.

Anyone have any tips on how to deal with this fucking halo of hair I get when I put my hair up? It’s too short for the pony tail, and too numerous and close to my scalp for clips.
I wash it every few days, with Pantene keratin shampoo and conditioner, and use the conditioner that came with my dye as well.

Oh I’ve heard good things about silk and satin pillowcases, so I’ll look into that as well! Thank you!
I’m not sure what mine is caused by, because it was like this before I dyed it. It’s always been like this tbh. Maybe diet idk. I will admit some is caused by accidentally burning it when I light a smoke 👀 but I’ve been conscious of that for a few years and it happens only a few times a year lol so I don’t think it’s entirely caused by that.

If it tends to be really dry and frizzy you could try a hot oil treatment? I remember there were little tubes sold by VO5 many years ago but they might no longer be around

I got a fly away gel last year that helped, but did mean increasing how often I had to wash my hair (I generally aim for once every week a bit because I have LONG THICK hair which takes forever to dry). However I also bought one with glitter in it which reduced how much I cared.
Love the colour!

A fabric hair band or bandana would smooth it back? You can also gently twist it into bunches and clip or pin it.
You could also slick it back with styling cream or gel

I’m thinking leave in conditioner. I don’t really like hair gel products because they always smell so perfume-y. And I hate how it makes my hair feel 😂 thinking I’ll take the suggestions of a headband as well, but do you have any suggestions for brand of leave in conditioner?

I used to use the A’kin brand because silicone free, but it’s a bit pricey and has a bit of an earthy sandalwood smell (though not strong).
You could always try slicking it back with a wet comb/dampening it, then rubbing some normal conditioner between your fingers and smoothing that through like product.

Wash leas frequently if you can. I generally do once a week. Also those scalp massages to work through conditioner, then a rough towel dry to damp, a workthrough of fructis banana hair food and let dry in a wrap.
(I have very thick hair and a double crown that wants to halo like the maddest of buggers. Took me 40-odd years to tame the beast reliably)

Totally go the Rockabilly bandana. You can slick before or aft if you like, but it will cover the transition

A kink? There’s a kink bandana code??

Oh you about to find out some fun shit!

Yeah… I gather you found one of the charts. Not everyone will read them that way, but being aware is useful

I… I… fuck it, why not. Silver lame it is.
