Billionaires control both the Democrats and the Republicans.
As long as the two party system exists a candidate that isn’t in the pocket of Oligarchs doesn’t stand a chance.

Because the situation, demographics, pool of potential candidates, interest groups, organizations, and economics of NYC do not reflect the rest of the country. It doesn’t even reflect the whole of New York State. For example, the DNC forced Hilary onto the presidential ticket despite greater popular support for Bernie. Which is why we’re in this fucking mess to begin with, don’t forget. When one or more factors conspire in any given environment, results can be dra drastically different than if they were in a different environment.

How do you feel about a parliamentary system?
Ek-Hou-Van-Braai@piefed.social 5 days ago
I’m a fan, people shouldn’t vote for a person but for representatives. And those representatives should have power based on how many votes they have and decide on laws.
I like how the EU works, it’s flawed in ways but there is no huge concentration of power in one person.

I am for both a parliamentary system as well as removing the electoral college and moving to ranked choice or other better voting system.
