Yeah, like all awards- it’s a popularity contest.

Why are we still caring about these stupid game award shows when it's clear that they're just padded with commercialism and favoritism?
I hate these awards and I hate the ones Valve hosts on their Steam platform. They are all just utterly meaningless. Just nothing but ways to get 'gamurrrs' to stir up pointless arguments about subjective things for clout.

For a large part, yes. It's just fuel to the fires of pointless arguments.
I'm sure development studios and individuals have a sense of pride and accomplishment in receiving any award for their work. But, even then, there's going to be volumes of people who're going to always feel like their favorites were snuffed for reasons not known to us and it just makes more arguments than actual discussions.

My opinion is Kingdom Come deliverance II should take it. This isn’t base on favoritism, but that the manor of detail and hard work by such a small developer shows the love and care put into making a good product.
Though I know that because of The popularity contest nature of these things, it’ll get snubbed by bigger and flashier things.

Hah it’s true. There are plenty of indie games that are amazing that don’t get mentioned at all. Ones which I’ve sunk hours into.

It’s just nice to have another reason to talk about video games. All contexts in which we talk about video games have inherent biases.

Yeah it’s really hard to find so many trailers to know what is up and coming. Am I gonna buy any of them? Not till they discount to the $10 range but shit it’s good to know what I can hope to drop price. Steam recommendations are not very good.

You mean, argue about them? Because I don't see a lot of good conversations regarding some video games unless it is a hivemind or a circlejerk. It must be on some universally agreed upon ruling before engaging some video game discussions, if not, then bickering or pelting virtual stones at the different thinker with opinions that goes against said hivemind.

If you go looking for an argument - you’re gonna find one.
I just watch it for the trailers, and wishlist the game I think might be interesting. To be bought 5 years later when they discount to $5.
