uBlock Origin Lite for safari apps.apple.com/app/id6745342698
Comment on I might teach a class about this and have the lesson get steadily worse and worse.
robotica@lemmy.world 3 weeks agoI think iPhones don’t let you install ad blockers on any browser

Now you’ve GOTTA be fucking joking me lmfao

I think in theory you can now with the safari extensions but for whatever reason there aren’t any available yet (or any well known ones anyway)
KoalaUnknown@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
There are lots of great extensions:

Wipr 2 is amazing. Orion Browser has an ad blocker built in already.

PiHole or AdGuardHome; then set up a VPN on that same box and on your phone. You’re secure and on your own home network everywhere.

Yes they do - I have very few ads on my iPhone

Neat! Is there still that rule that everything has to use WebKit under the hood? I’m curious if one could also use firefox extensions on ios. I assume firefox has an iOS app but I guess now that I think about it, I’m not actually sure… 😅
RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 3 weeks ago
That rule still exists, Firefox for iOS doesn’t support extensions. Orion browser has implemented the Webextension api, however it’s proprietary and the apis that are required for Adblock aren’t implemented. You have to use safari with uBlock lite or a browser with a built in adblocker like Brave or Orion

Buying an iPhone is every so often on my mind because I’m tired of Samsung but oh boy I wouldn’t survive a day with that bullshit
