Maybe some oil on it? I once restored an axe head in a similar way and was told that sanding it back to shiny would let it corrode again

I used a long oil soak on my Dadâs old hammers before any sanding. But hammers arenât intended for sharpening.

Trust the good olâ ball peen hammer - best modern substitute for a medieval war hammer. Though I guess you could up the nasty by squaring off the head and putting a point on it if thatâs your jam.
