I understand what you’re saying, but there’s also a huge stigma around being a girl and leading with the fact that you have an SO. Like most things socially for women, it feels like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t when trying to befriend men most of the time.
I’ve personally tried both methods throughout my life, and have lost every friendship with men I’ve tried to have because of it. It gets pretty lonely, since the other women in my immediate community aren’t really interested in my gaming hobbies. I end up a lot like this girl on the post, with no friends of either gender.
- Comment on Anon tries to understand his coworker 1 day ago:
Everyone keeps saying she was flirting, but I really think she was just trying to make a friend, but everyone saw ‘flirting’ because of their genders. The post literally says she has no friends.
This is why women tend to be wary of friendships with guys; any time we do, we get come on to because any amount of friendly interaction is perceived as flirting, or ditched because the guy we thought we were trying to befriend finds out we have a boyfriend.
Shit, if I were this girl who struggled to make friends, thought I had found one finally, but get friend-dumped when they find out they can’t fuck me (for the millionth time in her life, I’m sure), I’d probably quit, too.

Yeah, for sure. Like I said, I like apples in it pretty well, and I’m sure raisins at mostly fine. I just don’t like raisins in any context lol.
- Comment on I feel this way about cinnamon. 5 days ago:
Yeah, I’m sure its mostly fine, is just personal preference for me. I don’t like raisins at all. But I bet dried mango or something would be good

I know the Japanese will dead ass put apple and raisins in some variations of their curry. Apple is pretty good, adds a sweetness that isn’t overbearing. Raisins, though I will never understand.

I don’t think that’s a crazy choice. I kinda wish I had had my tubes tied like many of my friends did when Roe was overturned. But then I wouldn’t have my wonderful baby son. It’s hard.

It’s truly awful. I can’t look anyone in their eyes. All I can think about are how many of them voted my rights away by electing Trump again. I’ve never felt so isolated and desperate. I’m in a red state that outvoted Democrats 2:1, so it’s extra bad.
I’m feeling like I never want to participate in community things around here ever again. No handing out candy, no helping neighbors shovel their snow, no making friends without asking who they fucking voted for. Hell, I don’t even want to travel to see my R-voter relatives for the holidays. I’m putting all visits on hold, which is gonna really piss them of, because this is the first grandkid’s (our son) first holidays.
To be honest, I’m feeling sick for even choosing to have him despite my better judgment, which is the worst feeling to have while looking at your baby. It was in a period of hope that maybe we’d be able to overcome that orange fucker’s influence, but now look where we are. I feel like I’ve sentenced him to a fate worse than death to have brought him into this world at this time in this country. Especially with the climate certainly being extra fucked now.
FUCK THIS.

So tangential storytime: my husband recently discovered one of these channels (not sure if it’s this one or just a similar one), and specifically this goddamned song called “I glued my balls to my butthole again.” He will. Not. Stop. Playing it. He thinks it’s fucking hilarious, especially the more I roll my eyes.
Anyway, yes these channels are a blight, something needs to be done about them, and if anyone needs a husband they can find mine on the curb blasting that song on a loop lmao

Is it just me, or does she look GINORMOUS compared to that child? He looks at least 3, but is the relative size of my 5 month old?

If you’re looking for a more schlocky horror experience, give Resident Evil 8 a try! Extremely fun to play with a story that would be kinda ‘eh’ if the performances didn’t elevate it to cult-following b-movie perfection.
Subnautica would be a good game to transition from the end of summer to the beginning of fall. Spooky atmosphere where you play (almost) entirely underwater.
Crow Country came out earlier this year and definitely capitalizes on PS1 era horror games. In that vein also, Signalis is an excellent cerebral sci-fi horror.

Horror comedies are definitely a thing, but tbh I’d still consider Alan Wake 2 an outright horror even with the lighter stuff! Very spooky elements, with great writing and story crafting. Bonus points if you play Remedy’s other games for the Easter eggs

Fucking thank you. Men’s libbers (and there’s a loooooot of them on lemmy, as you can see in your downvotes) like to trot out the “men don’t report because of stigma!” line, but it’s like, my guy, women do too?? For every woman brave enough to report, there’s anywhere from 5-10 that don’t report at all due to fear/stigma.
Of course rape happens to men (mostly by other men) too. But, couple things:
- it’s not a competition or dick measuring contest. Rape is bad, m’kay? Regardless of gender.
- it’s disingenuous to say that it happens to men just as much, or more. It feels icky, like they’re shoving themselves in a victimhood narrative where they don’t belong.

Honestly, looking at our forecast predicting a 104 degree week ahead (and this year has been mild so far, lol), I’d agree
- Comment on Every August 3 months ago:
I’m not saying it doesn’t make sense monetarily, I’m saying it leads to an altered perception by people who don’t think too hard about it in regards to how other regions live during winter
- Comment on Every August 3 months ago:
Yeah, where we are you can’t really start looking forward to the weather until at least mid-October
- Comment on Every August 3 months ago:
They’re prob one of those people who refuses to get a good coat. Classic Southerner behavior, tbh. We hardly ever have a true need for good winter clothes down here, so most people don’t know how to layer properly to stay warm, so they think people living in colder climates are just freezing all the time. Because of barely having any inclimate winter weather, too, we don’t invest in much infrastructure to keep our streets clear of ice/snow, so the roads are always terrible after snow storms. People generally won’t shovel their walkways, either (even people who usually carefully tend their yards in other seasons!)
This leads to most people having a skewed perception of winter around here lmao
