Completely agree. OP is a troll. They pop up every so often claiming this nonsense. Chav is not, and never has been, a slur, towards working class people or otherwise.
Source - I’m a working class man from a working class area in the UK and in my mid 40s. I was in my teens when chav became a thing, and it only ever applied to a certain subset of people.

I had one of these marketing messages from Amazon this morning. I’ve never contacted them through WhatsApp, and as far as I can remember, have never contacted them outside of their apps. I definitely haven’t contacted them with my phone number.
They have my phone number, but it’s supposed to be for delivery issues, and I’ve withdrawn all advertising and marketing consent.

One journalist writing a book doesn’t make something true. Chav is not a slur for the working class.
I’m a working class man from a working class area in the UK, and the vast majority of people here have never been described as chavs and never would.

No worries 🙂
I’ve just tried again on mobile data, and it’s working properly. The weather here has been a bit shit, so it might just have been that earlier 🤷🏻♂️

- Comment on If copyright on a work expired immediately after death, would be that a bad or good idea? 3 months ago:
Bad. Copyright needs to be reformed, but this would be more likely to put money into the hands of rich people and corporations.
Imagine that I’ve just released a book series that’s more popular than Harry Potter and LOTR combined, and I get hit by a bus. What’s then stopping Disney or Warner Brothers etc from producing a set of movies with all the associated merch, and making a shit load of money, with not a penny going to my family? Not even giving them the opportunity to make enough to live on, never mind getting rich?
In that situation, depending on the contract, the publisher could even pulp the existing books and release identical copies without paying me or my family.

Your account is less than a week old, and you’ve made about half a dozen posts around the same topic. Maybe try reading the answers to your questions and think about them.

Besides, it was the luck of the feed. The t-shirt post was only two posts above this one when I was browsing :)

It looks like you’ve replied to the wrong post. There’s a post in !asklemmy@lemmy.world about a Luigi t-shirt 👍

I listened to an audiobook by Levar Burton a few days ago, and this sounds similar enough to his pattern of speech during the intro that I wouldn’t have known there was anything unusual about the AI voice. If I’d heard it read a book, I would have just assumed that the pauses were a style choice.
- Comment on This Modular Phone Concept Is Xiaomi’s Plan to Kill the Camera Bump 8 months ago:
I like the idea of it, but I wouldn’t trust a camera from Xiaomi. I’ve got a Xiaomi Mi 10t Lite 5g phone, and the camera is a pain to use. There’s about a 50/50 chance of a photo taken using the zoom to have random artifacts over the image. I’ve had some great photos ruined by it. It happened with my wife’s Mi 10t Lite too, so it’s not just my phone.
They removed features from the software too. One of the reasons that I chose this phone was because it had a burst mode on the camera, and I had a young child. After the phone was out of warranty, one of the updates removed the burst function. It also resets the settings if you switch apps or lock the screen. I was using the star trails mode last night, and switched to an astrophotography app to check I was pointing the phone the right way, and when I switched back, the camera was back to the default settings. Not great if you want to use one of the other modes.

Here’s a quote from @Joeyowlhouse@lemmy.wtf for context:
You recently trolled about how Elon Musk’s Nazi salute “has been debunked though”
and then a selection of quotes from your reply, the one I responded to:
Debunked in the sense that, one, what the perception was did not match his intention, and two, a lot of the footage exaggerated his gesture anyways.
Something that’s worth noting (or which I don’t see a lot of people talking about) is the fact that the salute, historically, was done with your arm stretched out *in front of you*, not to the side
Musk’s salute in the picture, though technically arguable to be the salute (and it’s possible more to his intentions might come to light), was more like [the Team Rocket pose.]
You’ve claimed to know what his intention was, that the Nazi salute was done differently to the clip of Hitler himself, even though the video shows that they’re almost identical, and then that Musk’s salute was an innocent mistake.
They sound an awful lot like excuses for a guy who was caught on camera performing a salute that’s all but identical to a Nazi salute that Hitler, leader of the Nazis, performed on video.

- Comment on Why do so many UK electrical sockets have an on/off switch next to them? 10 months ago:
Do you have individual switches for each plug socket / outlet wired next to the door? That seems like it would take a lot of wiring, and need a lot of switches.
The room I’m currently in has six double sockets spread out around the room. They each have one switch per socket like in the post’s image. If they were wired back to the door, they would need a lot more wiring, and one of the two entrance doors would have to be chosen. You’d then have to walk to that door every time you wanted to turn something off.
It seems like a lot more work for no real benefit.
