I moved to a new place and it came with one of these.
Besides the inconvenience of essentially paywalling features, it fucking GUZZLES rinse aid and send you notifications about needing more, and it doesn’t rinse it all the way off meaning my dishes need rinsing before drinking out of a glass for example.
Fuck Bosch and fuck Consumer Reports. What an absolute ingot of microplastic pollution someone rammed into my kitchen

They can’t without a constitutional amendment. They might still try to argue that the current constitution says something it doesn’t; they might just extrajudicially say “fuck you” to it.
But the only ones talking about it are assholes and - to be clear - not a majority of Americans.
- Comment on Marketing likes to change the name of shared file folders when they get new information. 3 weeks ago:
Literally a thing that uses a file path. Did you think shortcuts pointed at some kind of hidden identifier? Nope! Change the folder name, you change the path, and you break the link.
Same thing happens with web URLs

- Comment on Entropy? Never heard of it. 5 weeks ago:
That’s right. We should only do one thing, and that’s to switch away from fossil fuels. It won’t be a problem that we will still have all that CO2 warming the atmosphere and acidifying the oceans, we really shouldn’t bother trying to make that tech any better, it has clearly no use.
You fucking armchair Reddit-ass commenter.

People who read into product labels as if they’re secretly discovering that we’ve all been being fed sawdust and Soylent green instead of real food this whole time are like the sovereign citizens of marketing.

World has had some controversy and a lot of .world users have a very “Reddit” worldview - which kind of makes sense since many of them are Reddit refugees.
As a result there are some instances that have defederated with .world, and some call into question the moderation model used.
196 didn’t even ask their users though; they were just like “ok we’re gonna move the community and no one is allowed the old one” which is an arbitrary decision that goes against the design of the fediverse.
If you don’t like how a community is treated on an instance and the admins won’t work with you, you’re free to go create your own community elsewhere, with blackjack and hookers. But, I don’t think it’s fair that you can just pull the ladder up behind you and slam the door. Shame on the 196 mods and on the blahaj admins both for allowing this situation, the worst possible outcome.
- Comment on After the catastrophe of Concord Sony is reportedly cancelling other projects including a God of War live service game 2 months ago:
They probably started it at a time when analysis suggested it was what people wanted more of, and then during the probably what; 4 or 5 years it took to develop, interest waned?
I don’t think it was weird that they started on this; it was pretty weird that they didn’t pivot or cancel earlier.

- Comment on Alec Baldwin's Rust Case Is Over, Prosecutor Drops Manslaughter Appeal 2 months ago:
It was on a movie set where it is to be reasonably expected that the armorer will clear weapons to be safe on set and that actors aren’t expected to be firearms experts so that they are able to perform with them.
It should also be expected that said armorers do their job as expected and NOT shoot real ammo out of prop guns. And if they do, they’re expected to properly clear them; even though they never should in the first place.
But yeah, this was totally about Alec Baldwin the elite bourgeois flexing his real ultimate power of wealth and crushing the matter-nothing proletariat, the people have lost once again because he was not held accountable for someone else’s actions.
I’m all for eating the rich but let’s not just make shit up, that makes us look ridiculous.

- Comment on Plumbing Subreddit that locks anyone that is "new", even after everyone has commented 2 months ago:
You do, they just don’t see much activity and therefore people assume they do not exist.
Discoverability is becoming a big issue for niche communities within Lemmy.
I almost wish that the community model was more like a tag, and there was just one single “plumbing” for all instances, for example. I realize though that this idea raises hell for moderation/what do you do when someone takes over a name for hateful purposes/where does the sidebar exist/etc.
Having separate comms on separate instances just results in the biggest instance hosting all the communities; at what point is that any better than Reddit?
