My anecodotal evidence agrees. Somewhere between the jackal sniper one-shot deaths and the rampaging brutes soaking up all your ammo it becomes difficult not to throw things, and I swear I am generally a calm person. I play dark souls to relax.

In a somewhat similar vein, the remakes of both Halo: Combat Evolved and Bioshock modernized the lighting and in so doing completely destroyed the atmosphere.
- Comment on Amazon Artificially Discounting Items $0.01 Below the Free Shipping Limit 3 weeks ago:
In addition, ordering online from Walmart is every bit as bad as Amazon with the heaps and heaps of low quality Chinese junk sold under brand names that only exist for a few weeks at a time.

I’ve played all these and agree that Lies of P is one of the few good ones. The Surge is actually one I had in mind when I wrote my response. I think it’s absolute trash. The limb targeting gimmick and the forced quicktime finishers constantly stopping the action are just awful. I agree with your assessment of the others.
At the end of the day I’d almost always rather just play Dark Souls (yes, even Dark Souls 2) again rather than any of the crappy copycats out there.
- Comment on Anon fixes Super Mario Bros 4 weeks ago:
That’s because Elden Ring is Dark Souls for noobs. You just weren’t able to git gud. It’s okay. Not everyone can. Saying a game that literally spawned an entire genre has “horrible design” is pretty ridiculous though, don’t you think?
- Comment on Anon fixes Super Mario Bros 4 weeks ago:
People don’t play dark souls for the story either. We are there for the gameplay.
- Comment on Anon fixes Super Mario Bros 4 weeks ago:
I’d agree with you mostly except that nobody out there making a “soulslike” actually seems to understand what makes Dark Souls so good. There are so, so many garbage soulslikes out there, and exceptionally few good ones.

I’ve also seen them at Michaels and Dollar General recently. Unfortunately they are not nearly as good as my memories of them and I ended up throwing half the bag away.

Man I’m so sorry to hear that. For me it was Lucasarts’ Gladius and they finally did add that one somewhat recently. It’s the only game I was keeping my original Xbox for.

Pretty sure you can still play Eternal Sonata on the last 3 generations of Xbox.
- Comment on Anon buys a TV without researching 1 month ago:
This looked really promising but it seems like they only have HDMI 2.0 or lower? Some don’t list the version at all. Unfortunately HDMI 2.1 or better is kind of required in 2025.
- Comment on I love my smart TV (From Mastodon) - Repost 1 month ago:
Wrong
The “smart part” absolutely makes those TVs bad. The meme even addresses this with the line about hardware being ripped wholesale from an old smart phone. Smart TV hardware barely functions when it’s brand new. Fuck everything about smart TVs.

Book 4 is great, but honestly, what is there to like about book 5? Nothing fucking happens in the entire thing. In my opinion it has always been the absolute worst of the series.

As a kid, my family’s first VCR was a Daewoo. Imagine my surprise when we passed some road construction and I saw the Daewoo excavators and other heavy machinery. Later on, a girl in my highschool class had a Daewoo. That one blew my mind even more for some reason.

I bought the ultimate edition of this game on sale for $15 like a year ago. This game is constantly on sale. This game is also really good and legitimately worth full price. For those of you bitching about epic, just go buy it from your preferred marketplace and shut the fuck up.

I really enjoyed Risk of Rain 1 but I don’t get why people like Risk of Rain 2. They completely changed the game and it plays like shit. Is it only possible to like it if you didn’t play the first one?

I see about 200 different truck drivers every week and know them all by name. Whether they use a sleeper cab or not has absolutely no correlation to their tech skills and a solid 50% of them struggle to do basic things on their smartphone.

I find this especially interesting as I bought the game from a garage sale and when I got home I found out it was just a burned disc with a home-printed label. I was too young to understand the dangers of putting that shit in my cd-drive but old enough to know there was a good chance the game wouldn’t work at all. To my great surprise it worked fine and I played the crap out of it. Probably one of the first games where I finished the single player campaign.

I played DotA for 14 years, but WC3 was home to so many more incredible custom maps. Element TD is an example of another that became a standalone game. But there was also Footman Frenzy, Uther Party, Wintermaul Wars, Hero Line Wars, X Hero Siege, and countless others that made WC3 the greatest RTS platform ever conceived. I hope the suits that pushed out the piece of garbage that is “warcraft reforged” rot in hell forever

I still used one of these daily until at least 2009 to play music from my 2006 5th gen iPod video on my 1993 Buick regal because it sounded 100x better than any fm transmitter could produce at the time.
