That took longer than I expected.
- Comment on PC classics Ultima, SimCity and Myst have been added to the World Video Game Hall of Fame 1 day ago:
Agreed on both counts. Arguably, if the rest of the Myst/D’ni stories aren’t there yet, that’s also a travesty.

- Comment on Elon Musk’s X can’t invent its own copyright law, judge says 3 days ago:
Judge Alsup isn’t wrong. Yet Disney routinely writers its own copyright laws and has Congress pass them. Musk is just trying to cut out the middle step.

No, but he obviously felt that JSTOR could persuade a court to make it one. Poor kid.

- Comment on Dell responds to return-to-office resistance with VPN, badge tracking 6 days ago:
My uni forced us to resume in-person classes barely five months into the pandemic. No one is more productive. To this day, I’m only in the office when my contract says I have to be there. Even then, the door is closed and the lights are off. I can literally count on one hand the number of useful hallway conversations in the last four years. Generally, I’m far more productive without the interruptions and pointless random socializing.
- Comment on Read the wild email Tesla is sending to suppliers amid Supercharger chaos 1 week ago:
For a dozen lesser reasons, there’s no amount of money that would persuade me to own a Tesla. This only convinces me that almost any other EV would be preferable.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 PC players will soon need to link their Steam accounts to PlayStation Network 1 week ago:
That’s the point. There are plenty of other great games that Dony Durant control, though. How often do people need to get burned before they learn?

Since mainstream gaming is the new Facebook/Google data sucker, why do people keep buying that garbage?

Interesting read. Since he likely knows a lot of these teams, nothing is stopping him emailing them gift cards.

Hey, at least they’re not going to waste time and money on a second date. Might be the start of a fun friendship, though, if they enjoy friends who bust their chops.

Thanks @someguy@lemmy.sdf.org
“Why are they so afraid to even have these conversations out in the public sphere?”
Indeed. It’s almost like they know they’re breaking the law and are just trying to keep the gravy train rolling for as long as possible.

I LOVED Marathon! And insane AI seems about right for next year 😁
- Comment on Ubisoft revealed an AI NPC prototype at GDC and everyone online made fun of it 1 month ago:
This is kind of interesting as a concept. A well-trained and well-prompted bot that could help teach in virtual worlds like Second Life or Opensim, for instance, would be really cool. But at the current state of the tech, unless it’s just an exercise in improv acting, it doesn’t seem ready to help tell stories. Can you imagine if the Consort had a nervous breakdown in Mass Effect?
- Comment on Rooster Teeth, home of Red Vs. Blue and RWBY, shutting down after 21 years 2 months ago:
This is sad. Admittedly the company has seen rough times in the past few years, but they didn’t deserve this.
RIP Rooster Teeth

Ah, thanks. Obviously I didn’t keep up with developments as well as I thought. I knew that Apple Silicon is Arm-based, but I didn’t realize that Arm is RISC.
