- Comment on Itch.io is delisting NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors 5 days ago:
To quote the good folks over at the TWG Discord
See also here for more numbers to call
as you may or may not be aware, indie video game and ttrpg marketplace itch.io has recently been pressured by payment processors like Visa Mastercard to remove and delist “explicit content” from their site. this has resulted in, effectively, the mass erasure of works published by lgbtqia+ artists. this is the stated end goal of targeted action against payment processors by the group Collective Shout which angles itself to be “protecting children” by erasing adult content from existence.
obviously that’s bullshit. but there’s some stuff we can do as a community to try and fix this!
payment processors do not give a single shit about the content their products are being used to buy. they only care about liability and shareholders. Collective Shout was able to get Visa Mastercard to act with barely over 1,000 calls that’s less than half of the people in this discord. i know it’s a lot to ask every single person to make a call to their card holder, but if you have the energy i highly highly recommend doing so at either of these numbers
Visa Headquarters: (650) 432-3200 Mastercard Headquarters: (914) 249-2000
here’s a little script to follow if you’d like!
“Hello, my name is _____, and I would like to file a complaint. I find it troubling that Mastercard is blocking content on (the platforms you use) and making it difficult for me to make legal purchases. I am going to stop using Mastercard if this isn’t rescinded and fixed."
if you don’t have a call in you, you can send an email to the addresses below and add your signature to this petition from the ACLU

Quick, go through their post history and see if they’ve mentioned any Neil Breen films
- Comment on What's a cancelled game you really miss? 3 months ago:
That seems pretty reductive IMO. Like RE7 and RE8 are genuinely good returns to form for the series. The RE2 and RE4 releases are remakes which by most standards improve the original releases and bring them into the current generation.
Then throw in the Phoenix Wright games, Monster Hunter games, Dragon’s Dogma games, Street Fighter games, DMC…
I would argue Capcom has been on a tear of very good games especially in the last 5 years.

I still get upset when Robbie Williams comes on Gold, this would have ruined my day…

Highly recommend Millie Holton’s other stuff like the animated Long Head shorts, especially if you’re into weird Adult Swim type stuff
- Comment on New Portal pinball table may be the closest we’re gonna get to Portal 3 4 months ago:
I recommend Portal Revolution too. It felt closer to a genuine 3 story.
Portal Reloaded was great but also quite complex compared to the first two games and I think most people who liked 1 and 2 would find it frustratingly difficult at times.

It’s not.
I’m still pretty early on but the dialogue is awful, and the two main characters are authors whose best ideas for novels amount to trolls and cyber ninjas. Not exactly unique or inspiring books guys. (Maybe this is some sort of point or satire I haven’t hit yet but I doubt it)
At least, like It Takes Two the gameplay is reasonably enjoyable, particularly if you’re playing with someone who doesn’t play games a lot. It’s flashy in that Uncharted sort of way that will make them go “whoa cool”.

Finished Metaphor: Refantazio right before the end of the year. Fantastic game which is shockingly relevant to so much going on at the moment around the world.

I’ve never played the series but I am interested and planning on seeing if the new version is good / considered “definitive” by fans of the series. If it’s good I will likely play this rather than the original version.
Same strategy I’m taking for Dragon Quest 1/2/3

No, it’s an exaggaration. According to StreetSmart Australia 14% of people became homeless due to becoming unemployed suddenly
With that said we do have MUCH better social welfare programs here in Australia than the US, though there is always more that could be done

Tank controls have been pretty universally despised for many years now. Stuff like the Grim Fandango and RE1 remasters were offering alternate non-tank controls back in 2015 and there’s probably earlier examples too

Ah, a fellow Into the Aether listener perhaps? Or maybe just a big JRPG fan 😁
I gotta check out Trails at some point. The whole tetralogy thing kinda puts me off in the same way Yakuza does but you gotta start somewhere I guess!

If you liked this I really hope you’ve dug into 1000xRESIST. They’re not super similar but enough so that I think if you liked 13 Sentinels you’d probably like it also

What are your picks of the genre?
I’ve also tried a whole bunch, my favourite is probably Rogue: Genesia, I really like the challenges and metaprogression over some of the other titles I’ve tried

On a similar note I Wanna Maker which is more or less Mario Maker but free and tonnes of developer created and user created levels to play through.

Tametsi - store.steampowered.com/app/709920/Tametsi/
Simple premise is basically Minesweeper, but all the puzzles are handcrafted with some neat designs and concepts that will stretch your puzzle solving to the limit. Also importantly, no guessing required to solve!

Taiji was waaaaay harder than the Witness for me personally, but great choice. The vibe and music and what not is super chill also

I completely gave up on the game after they killed the PvE / skill plans for 2, but I played quite a lot of 2 from launch and agree. I really like 5v5 and team structure wise to me the game felt in a great place with the change personally.

Yeah it does. Apparently running in Windows under Proton is less problematic but performs a lot worse, so I didn’t bother. I’m sure it will get fixed, guessing the end of the game probably just isn’t as well tested as the first 80% because that was pretty flawless

Have you played Pokemon Unbound? Always hearing good things about that one but never tried myself
- Comment on The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion 1 year ago:
Been playing this too, it’s great.
Unfortunately am hitting some hard lockups in the last chapter or two on Deck so have put it down for now - seems to be a common issue based on some forum posts and ProtonDB.
I played through Portal Reloaded just before this which was excellent too, the puzzles are SUPER hard though, way harder than Revolution.

For podcasts I highly recommend Into the Aether. They only bring games they like to the show and it’s a super chill and positive show that feels like chatting with friends who are really into vidya games. The episodes are quite long but great to listen to.

Can’t wait for the MM decomp and similar Ship project there. I’ve never played and and I’m holding out on that and all the great modern tweaks it brings over existing emulation.
