Can confirm that our house spiders are pretty tough. A car ran off the road and into the front wall of my house spider last year and it barely left a mark. We still live here.
- Comment on Coconuts 🥥 5 months ago:
Just on statistics, it seems unlikely that in the period of time that coconuts have been floating around that they would only have made it there about the same time as explorers. Surely if they could make it there floating then they would have much earlier.
- Comment on Why do people wear shoes inside the house? 8 months ago:
Because I have multiple doors in my house which lead outside. I normally take my shoes off when I come inside, but sometimes I come in one door and then want to leave via a different door only to realise my shoes are at the other end of the house.

You know that RATMs big albums were over 25 years ago, right?
- Comment on This person's rejection reason 10 months ago:
Most people who have a higher education degree. I thought that was implied as you even mentioned it in your comment “ages in which students traditionally enroll in college”.
- Comment on This person's rejection reason 11 months ago:
People probably don’t care where you went to high school, but they probably care if you have a degree and when you got it. Most people go to university within a few years of finishing high school.
- Comment on This person's rejection reason 11 months ago:
It’s generally not hard to figure out someone’s age if their work and education history is listed
- Comment on They now put ads in cigarettes 11 months ago:
They’re still healthier than cigarettes (just because you’re not breathing combusted organic matter) so if every smoker switched to vapes then we’d be in a better place. The only issue I have is the huge uptake of vaping among young people who wouldn’t otherwise have smoked.
- Comment on They now put ads in cigarettes 11 months ago:
If everyone existed in a bubble then that would be true. Unfortunately your smoking affects others. If you only ever do it outside away from others then it’s probably only causing health problems for you, but that’s still putting load on the health system. However I’m overweight so it would be hypocritical of me to admonish you too much on that front. If you smoke indoors and near other people then you are making everyone smoke for your own satisfaction.
- Comment on They now put ads in cigarettes 11 months ago:
Come to Australia. On the rare occasion I see someone smoking a real cigarette now I just think “who can afford to burn a $3 cigarette?”.

- Comment on How The Password Game was beaten in 59 characters 11 months ago:
Gah it’s given me an impossible task. My Roman numerals are the product of two primes so can’t be changed and my chess move contains an element of the periodic table which, in combination with the Roman numerals exceeds the specified sum.
- Comment on Elon offers Wikipedia $ 1 billion to change their name to Dickipedia 1 year ago:
Get the money first. You don’t want to end up in a long, protracted legal battle because he offered you money in a social media post. It’s how he ended up with Twitter.

It’s a flying soda can; in the event of a serious accident you’re likely to lose your head.

I think they should just have rows of bunk beds. It’s much easier to stack something flat than people with their awkward bends at the hips and knees.
- Comment on Brought my Chromecast with Google TV to a Hotel, TV is framed. 1 year ago:
Probably not custom. Many brands allow the tv to be put into hotel mode. If you have your own remote (or an IR blaster) then you can take them out of it.
- Comment on Not my account, just posting this on behalf of UK people I used to follow when I did have a twitter account. Elon deleted the UK. 1 year ago:
This is why I am always annoyed that England, Wales, and Scotland get to represent separately in international competitions. They’re essentially states, and you don’t see Texas turning up to the football world cup or something.

We’re not going to make it until the sun swallows the earth. If there’s anything related to us left at that point then it wouldn’t be recognisable to us.

I have the AAWireless one and it’s not perfect but it almost always works. If it doesn’t work then you can just unplug it and plug the cable into your phone. Worth it.

- Comment on Almost all remote-work news is negative now but was positive in the beginning of the pandemic. Have you noticed this or am I going crazy? 1 year ago:
I think there’s a balance for most people. I don’t mind being in the office but I hate commuting there. If the office was down the end of my street then I’d go every day. Luckily I mostly work on my own work so I only need to talk to people occasionally.

I’m a man and I’d much rather smell like vanilla and passionfruit. I don’t need more help to smell like fuel.
