I bought a £6 metal one, it’s only a small one as I still have plenty of mobility. I imagine if you have a bad back or reduced mobility you’d want a longer one. I think the brand was called Zomake? I bought it many years ago, it’s still in great condition apart from the logo wearing off.

I know I may seem old for saying this, but I highly recommend getting a decent metal shoehorn. Makes putting on shoes a breeze, and no need to wreck your fingers or do that foot-heel pumping thing. The backs of my trainers last so much longer now too!

Fortunately I’m not invested in the MCU as much as I once was. Probably worth chucking the spoiler in some spoiler tags though.

Back when I was 15 I had a gf that was basically nocturnal. She’d throw shit at me (e.g. scissors, a knife, a fork) while I was sleeping if I was breathing too loud. If the internet died in the house she would wake me up to try and fix it.

Strange that they include Kraven Hunter in the list but not Madame Web which had a greater loss of like $100m?
- Comment on Discussion - Havoc [Spoilers] 1 week ago:
Watched this film last night with my other half. Before starting I asked what they thought would be the movie out of 5, they said 2.5, I said 3.5.
Secretly I was hoping it would be higher given there was association to the creator of The Raid and The Raid Redemption. Going in I was expecting minimal story with a ton of gory action, and some awesome choreography.
The first car chase scene was a dark, fuzzy, shaky mess with what definitely looked like poor CGI. It was giving me a bit of nostalgia from back when I used to play Max Payne.
Following action sequences were also all shaky cut cam, which really puts me off as you know the choreography is just not great. Where was the clean hard hitting action we would see from the likes of The Raid?
Story wise it met my expectations, a loose plot and helps drive the action sequences forward, but presenting me with a bunch of characters I just didn’t care about.
I think my partner got the guess right, 2.5.

I had read the article, but thought I’d put my guess out to create discussion 🙂

I’m guessing Sydney would be playing Zoe, are we going to have a cringe British accent from her?
- Comment on What movies have you watched this week? 2 weeks ago:
Watched Paddington in Peru. Definitely the weakest of the films and was jarring that Mrs Brown was a different actress. It still had its wholesome moments though.

I imagine it varies between countries. In the UK I would say I’m happy for laughter, and the odd gasp. Anything more such as cheering, singing or clapping is not on to me personally.

“This is obviously a worrying time for families across the UK, which is why we remain determined to get bills down in the long term.”
Just continue to struggle to survive for the next few years people, and then everything will be dandy.
- Comment on ‘Superman’ screens to mixed reactions 5 weeks ago:
I’m surprised by how many comments are taking an optimistic look at these less than good screenings. Especially given the current state of comic book movies.
Lots of people have superhero fatigue, and I believe some of it is down to poor writing on the MCU side. When the MCU first took off the quips and little jokes would get a chuckle, but as time went on they became expected, and generated groans.
My concern with Gunn is his comic book films always have the same feel to them, trying to be serious while also leaning on the side of humour, and throwing lots of characters into the mix. I didn’t enjoy any of his comic book films except for the first GotG, however the Peacemaker TV show was great. I wonder if his style isn’t suited for the current cinematic climate?

It estimates that we’d need 3.23 billion bananas 🍌 to fill 2500 hectares of space if anyone wants a bananas for scale.
- Comment on 'Jupiter Ascending' came out 10 years ago, and we're still not sure how The Matrix creators' space opera went so wrong 2 months ago:
I can guess one reason is the Wachowski’s got lucky with The Matrix, similar to how Shyamalan got lucky with The Sixth Sense.
- Comment on Monster Train 2 - Announcement Trailer 2 months ago:
I believe the initial intention was that it was going to be a live service game, where they would add more content and cosmetics over time and continue to support it, but after the backlash of their monetisation method (after people had already purchased the game) they got it to a 1.0 state and moved on to I’m guessing Monster Train 2.
It’s a shame because Inkbound had an interesting foundation there and I believe they could have figured out a better model to keep the game alive.
- Comment on Monster Train 2 - Announcement Trailer 2 months ago:
I got some good hours out of Inkbound, but something rubbed me the wrong way about how they handled it. It’s as though following backlash on their monetisation they decided to wrap the game up and push it out the door and essentially abandon the game.
I loved MT, and that’s why I grabbed Inkbound, but I’m optimistically cautious about MT2. The demo for MT2 was great, I’ll just have to wait and see.

When I first joined Lemmy as part of the semi-great API migration it seemed quite empty, but it does feel like it has slowly grown, unfortunately I’m finding following Trump getting in I can’t scroll without seeing tons of Trump/Musk posts. Doesn’t matter how many things I block it is neverending. I just want to go back to when we were just here to have fun, not constantly be reminded as to what is happening across the pond.

I feel like for some employers this is a one way thing, come in 10 minutes late? How dare you breach our contract. Oh you have to stay 10 minutes late because a meeting has overrun? It’s part of the job!
Obviously not all employers are like this, but there are so many that are and don’t afford you the same flexibility that you have to give them in their eyes.
- Comment on Slay the Spire 2 gets a first trailer - coming to Early Access in 2025 4 months ago:
I cannot wait for this, the Slay the Spire claimed so many hours of my life on PC when it released… and then again on mobile! I can only imagine the inclusion of additional animation will add more value. I also hope they take some inspiration from the Downfall mod as that was an absolutely solid addition.

No way has it been in Early Access for 2 years?! I picked this game up when I first released but stopped playing it pretty quickly as it felt shallow compared to what was already out there. Maybe I need to give it a go with this update.
- Comment on Major overhaul of workers' rights to be outlined 6 months ago:
My employer has already been putting measures in place to what seems to be potential loopholes. Hybrid working was bundled as part of “flexible working”, they have separated it out into a different terminology. The term Flexible Working is now purely for those who want to change their hours like removing a day once a week and getting paid less, or moving hours from one day into the other 4.
A large number of companies are pushing to get people to RTO and I get the feeling these workers rights won’t counteract that.

I had to turn the music off as it got repetitive, but the rest of the audio stays on. The sound effects are so satisfying as everything is counted after playing a hand and you’ve got a bunch of jokers and cards triggering and then flames begin to build up.

I’m guessing the top management didn’t learn that crunch is perceived negatively and doesn’t always yield quality results. I’m so glad I never backed this game all those years ago.
- Comment on StarCraft 2 production director pitched WarCraft 4 and a Call Of Duty RTS before leaving Blizzard, claims report 7 months ago:
Dawn of War 3 was absolutely ruined by them trying to make it an eSports. I find most RTS doesn’t give that same feel we got when WC3 first came out or later on when Company of Heroes was released. They were solid games that brought something new to the genre.
