- Comment on Why is Steam (Windows PC version) the only program (to my knowledge) that natively snaps to windows displays? 1 year ago:
Runelite, is the one and only program I’ve found that does not do that and I hate it.
- Comment on Tall, short, whatever—we're all screwed 1 year ago:
For example, when I’m cooking, I have to stand back quite far just to be able to see under the range hood. Or how there’s almost no public bathroom where I can see my face in the mirror. You’d be surprised how often we have to bend down just to see stuff

- Comment on Why is cooking a food item method called different things by what the item is, or what is the criteria? 1 year ago:
It probably won’t, at least not for a long time. But I’m always happy to share my knowledge.
P.s. Your comment made me realise I should actually put something on that community. Imma update the sidebar right now.
- Comment on Making a button to do this is apparently far too difficult 1 year ago:
Act like it’s a police stop, give them the info that’s required and otherwise shut the hell up

I’m a cook and just created !askculinary@lemmy.world for you. Feel free to direct any culinary question you have to it and I’ll do by best to answer them.
- Comment on But my WiFi is just fine! 1 year ago:
You’re probably right, but I’m not a power user and nor do I care to be. I can make all my problems go away by just plugging in a cable and making sure I have good Internet otherwise. That’s my point and what matters to me in this discussion
- Comment on But my WiFi is just fine! 1 year ago:
and playing video games. No offense, but did you read the whole comment? I need good latency for my games and I need it while downloading a bunch of other stuff. Idk if you’ve ever tried downloading a few torrents while gaming, but it’ll definitely have an impact. Especially if you’re on WiFi.
- Comment on But my WiFi is just fine! 1 year ago:
I’m pretty sure it’s wifi from the neighbours interfering. I can’t be bothered to deal with that, not when I have a cable laying around. Plus, no matter what, a cable will always be more stable than wifi
- Comment on But my WiFi is just fine! 1 year ago:
I often will be downloading a film, streaming youtube or music and be playing video games. Latency matters to me and WiFi is just not stable enough

I pretty much exclusively use InstaPaper for my mobile reading.
- Comment on what are these floating on the surface 1 year ago:
The water from the tap has a certain amount of calcium in it, it’s not fat. That act of boiling water will make it so a some of the calcium carbonate will precipitate out of the water onto your kettle. This can come loose over time and with use of the kettle and form little flakes in the water. It’s nothing that’s not already in the drinking water and is perfectly safe

- Comment on If a post gets a lot of downvotes should it be removed? 1 year ago:
I feel like you’re looking at it wrong: If you imagine a community to be a town square, then every comment is someone standing on a soap box shouting into the crowd. The mods are the police standing on the side lines.
In this scenario, as long as no one says anything illegal (or against the community’s rules), the police should just stand there and keep watch. If the whole crowd starts booing the person shouting on their soap box, it would clearly be wrong for the police to silence this person or to remove them from the town square. They should be allowed to be there and say whatever they want, just as you should be allowed to voice your opinion on what they’re saying.
Saying something that people don’t like hearing should never be a reason to silence someone by itself. There are valid reasons to “silence” ( you know, remove a comment or ban them) someone, but "I (we) don’t like what they’re saying can never be a reason to do so.
